Abstract

1,260,442. Papermaking. G. CORBELLINI. 26 Jan., 1970 [29 Jan., 1969], No. 3596/70. Heading D2A. [Also in Division C7] A foil blade comprises an elongated body of plastics material, reinforced by at least one metal member, and having a portion shaped for mounting on a supporting beam; a first smooth strip of hard metal alloy having a low coefficient of friction and a high resistance to chemical attack which is fast with the body, and has a longitudinal edge thereof projecting from a longitudinal edge of the body; and a second smooth strip of plastics material fast with the body and the first strip, providing a substantially flat free surface. The first strip may be formed of an alloy of carbon, chromium, tungsten and cobalt, which may also contain iron, manganese, silicon and nickel. As shown, plastics body 7 is reinforced by member 8 embedded in the plastics, and is formed with dovetail 10 to engage a supporting beam. Hard alloy strip 6 and plastics strip 11 are fast with the body 7 and each other to provide a flat top surface. The supporting beams may be pivoted at one side so that rotation of the beam brings the blade edge nearer the wire (Fig. 1, not shown).
