Abstract
1,260,344. Correcting contours of glass viewing panels. CORNING GLASS WORKS. 10 Sept., 1969 [16 Sept., 1968], No. 44737/69. Heading C1M. To correct the contour of the face plates of a glass viewing panel for cathode ray tubes prior to its-removal from the mould a stream of cooling gas such as air is directed into a corner area of the panel in a direction substantially normal to the surface of the panel for a period of time. The pressure of the gas may be 2 p.s.i. its temperature between 80 and 100 F. and said period of time 17 seconds. 'The forming mould 12,is carried on an indexing turret type of glass pressing machine, the gas being directed from a conduit 14 via a valve 16 on to the leading corner area B of the panel.
