Abstract

1,260,124. Loudspeakers; diaphragms. VIDEOTON RADIO-ES TELEVIZIOGYAR. 14 Jan., 1969, No. 54144/68. Heading H4J. A loudspeaker diaphragm 1 (see also Fig. 1, not shown) has a compliant outer peripheral suspension 5 made from expanded material having closed pores 10. The enclosed pore surfaces are covered with a layer 9 of damping substance which is inert with respect to the expanded material, i.e. which is not miscible with the expanded material, does not dissolve it, is not soluble in it, does not react chemically with it and is less viscous but has higher damping qualities than the expanded material itself. The expanded material may be a mixture of natural and synthetic latex and the damping material may be glycerol. The diaphragm 1 and peripheral suspension 5 are secured together by a bonding agent 11 which has a lower modulus of elasticity than the diaphragm 1 but higher than the peripheral suspension 5. Bonding agent 11 may be soft rubber adhesive. The diaphragm 1 is made from felted paper.
