Abstract
1,259,355. Magnetic switches. CREED & CO. Ltd. 16 April, 1969, No. 19337/69. Heading H1N. An assembly of magnetic switches has a polarizing magnet system fixed relative to a plurality of sealed magnetic reed contact units, each of which is associated with a respective coextensive magnetic screen movable to expose one end of the contact unit so as to permit contact operation. As shown, a common permanent magnet 3 acts on any of the contact units 1 when its respective cylindrical screen 4 is moved axially. The screens may be partly supported by the respective contact units and may be selectively moved on operation of keys (not shown) connected by wire or strip to the screens. The common magnet 3 may be replaced by individual magnets or by electromagnets which could be de-energized when the assembly is not in use.
