Abstract

1,258,733. Valves. NIPPON OIL SEAL INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. 6 Jan., 1970 [6 Jan., 1969], No. 674/70. Heading F2V. A valve for controlling the fluid pressure at the rear wheel cylinders of a vehicle braking system has a valve member 4 biased to the open position by spring 2 and formed with two passages 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> communicating with the hollow interior in which a ball 6 is biased by a spring 7 to close the passage 5<SP>1</SP>. In use rise in inlet pressure to a predetermined valve forces member 4 on to seat 6 to prevent communication between inlet and outlet and a further rise in inlet pressure to a second higher predetermined valve opens ball 6 to again allow inlet and outlet communication via passages 5<SP>1</SP>, 41. Ball 6 may be replaced by a lift valve with or without a guide stem.
