Abstract

1,258,193. Heat insulated liquefied gas storage containers. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 10 April, 1969, No. 18505/69. Heading F4P. A thermal insulation structure comprises two layers of insulating panels 70, 112 separated by a layer of support panels 86. In Fig. 20 an outer wall 36 of a double walled tank for liquefied gas carries studs 72. Insulation panels 70 of foamed plastics are impaled on studs 72 in abutting relationship. Plywood panels 86 are secured by nuts 88 on studs 72 and are spaced from each other by compressed elastic foam material 92. Insulation panels 112 are installed in abutting relationship and covered by a layer of metal plates which are spaced from each other and secured by batten strips 67, 68 which are secured by screws 104 to plywood panels 86. The junctions between the panels of each layer are staggered with respect to those of the other layers. The base of the tank is supported on wooden blocks (46, Fig. 8, not shown) and the sides have projecting keys (44, Fig. 7, not shown) receiving wooden bearing blocks (42).
