Abstract

1,253,894. Electric couplings. W. PFISTERER. 23 April, 1969 [23 April, 1968], No. 20732/69. Heading H2E. A device for making tap-off connections to the insulated cores 11 of an electric cable comprises contact members 12 having teeth 17, mounted in insulating members 7, 8 which are seated in and may be glued to U-shaped members 1, 2 fastened together by means of guiding screws 22. Clamping screws 15 engaging - contact members 12 clamp the ends of tap-off branch conductors (not shown) which may be connected beforehand, and, the tap-off connection being established when the parts are assembled, by virtue of the teeth 17 which -extend substantially in the direction of fastening screws 22 penetrating to the wires of the insulated cores. Insulating projections 9, 10, integral with members 7, 8 respectively serve to centre the device on the cable and also reinforce the insulation between cores; insulating member 19 (with projections 20, Fig. 3, not shown) maintains the height of the connection and the contour of the crosssection. In an embodiment suitable for a threecore cable (Fig. 4, not shown) the third contact member has teeth shaped differently, and the member 19 takes the form of two separate members.
