Abstract

1,253,290. Foundry mould composition. HUTH & RICHTER, CHEMISCHE FABRIK K.G. 31 May, 1969, No. 27682/69. Heading C3N. A foundry mould or core is produced by mixing an inert, granular, filler with an acidhardenable synthetic resin as binding agent and anhydrous p-toluene sulphonic acid as the sole hardener therefor, shaping the mixture to form said mould or core and allowing the mixture to harden at room temperature. The filler may be sand, quartz, clay or asbestos. The synthetic resin binding agent may be a furane or phenolic resin. In the process of manufacture the filler may be mixed first with the synthetic resin binding agent and the hardener added thereafter or the hardener first mixed with the filler and the synthetic resin binding agent added thereafter.
