Abstract
1,252,373. Compositions comprising depolymerised chitin. L. L. BALASSA. 3 Feb., 1969, No. 5781/69. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C3] A product or composition for facilitating healing of a wound comprises finely divided partially depolymerised chitin (as defined), the chitin having a particle size of less than 50 microns and either being used alone as a product in the form of a powder or being incorporated with a pharmaceutical carrier to provide a powder, an ointment or a colloidal dispersion. The partially depolymerised chitin may be, for example, chitotriose or chitobiose. Other ingredients which may be present are ascorbic acid, ascorbyl palmitate, zinc oxide, zinc ascorbate, zinc sulphate, zinc stearate, thimerosal, benzalkonium chloride, lidocaine, procaine, chloramphenicol, sulphanilamide and ampicilline.
