Abstract

1,252,041. Seats. G. KERSTHOLT and F. KERSTHOLT. Jan.23, 1969 [Feb. 1, 1968; Aug. 8, 1968; Sept.13, 1968], No.3910/69. Headings A4H, A4J and A4U. A seat comprises a seat member 10 pivotable about a horizontal axis 11 and a back rest 18 which may be pivotable about 17 and which is connected to the support frame or to the floor by at least one spring 24. The rotational movement of the seat member 10 may be limited by a strap (35) which is fastened by a pin (36), Fig. 3 (not shown) to member 12, or by two chains (42, 43) Fig. 4 (not shown) which are fastened to a column used as a support frame or by the design of the upper surface of the support frame Fig. 6 (not shown). The height of the seat member may be adjusted by means of a telescopic support column and the seat may be mounted on a slide rail for movement in a horizontal direction Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown). The seat may be locked in various positions by the use of straps provided with holes at least one of the straps may be provided with teeth in which a toothed locking means may be engaged. The spring may be either telescopic or a leaf spring, the tension of both springs may be altered by adjusting the effective length of the spring. A carrier rack may be rigidly fastened to the seat frame 10 for supporting an article e.g. a satchel, Fig. 2a (not shown). The spring arrangement in a vehicle seat Fig. 9 (not shown) may slide forwards under the support frame and the back then moves into a line with the seating surface.
