The subject matter of the present Specification is included in Specification 15625/69 and the claims are directed to a rotary cutter comprising several cutter units arranged on a common shaft and each having insertable cutting elements, the units being arranged on the shaft so that the cutting elements, each of which extends substantially parallel to the axis of the shaft, of adjacent units are at different angular positions on the shaft, and each unit being provided with recesses between the cutting elements providing a free space for inserting and removing cutting elements from adjacent units in a direction substantially parallel with the axis of the cutter.
