Abstract

1,248,873. Centrifugal pumps. P. BUNGARTZ. April 24, 1970 [April 28, 1969], No.19765/70. Heading F1C. In a centrifugal pump receiving liquid from a container supplied with liquid at a varying rate, the impeller eye a is communicated with the gas space g of the container via ducts b, clearance c, chamber d and conduit e. Thus the size of a gas pocket # formed in the impeller eye, and thereby the efficiency of the pump, will vary in accordance with the level of liquid in the container. Blades i separate the gas from liquid and keep the liquid clear of the clearance c. Blades h relieve the region k from the pump discharge pressure. The pump can be used for pumping gascontaining or boiling liquids.
