Abstract

1,247,761. Ventilators. POWRMATIC Ltd. 2 April, 1970 [2 April, 1969], No. 17223/69. Heading F4V. In a power ventilator comprising an axial flow fan 20 located within a housing 10, and a rectangular dish shaped weather cowl 24 supported by means of brackets 23 in spaced relation to the outlet end of the housing 10, a circular or polygonal guide baffle 30 is located between the periphery of the outlet end of the housing and the cowl. The baffle serves to reduce turbulence. As shown the guide baffle 30 comprises an annulus of metal coated with polyvinyl chloride and has an arcuate crosssection. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) the guide baffle is of square shape and is made up of four longitudinal strips (31) each having two longitudinal bends therein to define a cross-section substantially the same as that shown in Fig. 1. Closure flaps 26 supported by hinge rods 25 are arranged to open, and be kept open, by the pressure of air being discharged from the ventilator.
