Abstract

1,247,178. Repertory diallers. TELEMASTER G.m.b.H. 5 Oct., 1968, No. 47339/68. Heading H4K. A repertory dialler has a plurality of discs 3 having cams 14 around their periphery which when read by a follower 20, during one revolution of the discs, provide impulses corresponding to a complete telephone number. In the present dialler, provision is made for resetting the mechanism by engaging a high-speed drive for the discs and at the same time inhibiting the production of pulses. The discs 3 are mounted on shaft 4 and driven through a ratchet type one-way drive by worm 8 which is driven by motor 5. Also mounted on shaft 4 is a gear which co-operates with pulley wheel 39 which is belt driven by motor 5 to give a high-speed drive to the discs. A releasable coupling is included within pulley 39 and is operated by downward movement of lever 46 when reset button 76 is pressed. Associated with each cam 9 is a selector bar 2 which has a follower 20 which rests on the disc periphery when selector key 1 is pressed and the whole bar 2 moves in the direction of arrow 16. A pawl arrangement 15, common to all discs, is actuated by nose 19 of bar 2 when it contacts a raised cam 14 and rotates lever 22 about pivot 23 so that cam 32 closes contacts nsa and rod 26 unlocks coupling 27 to drive wheel 29 and operate contacts nsi to give the required number of impulses. When bar 2 moves back it strikes bar 112 which moves stop 109 away from pin 107 so that wheel 93 can rotate and cam follower 100 can operate motor switch 89. Electromagnet 81 is also energized to raise finger 85 which together with finger 117 locks bar 2 in position. After an initial digit group has been sent, the follower 20 enters a deep notch in the disc which causes a subsidiary switch to operate and stop the motor. If the call is to proceed an auxiliary start button (135) is pressed and the motor re-starts to continue sending impulses. If the line is busy, reset button 76 is pressed which operates through the linkage shown in Fig. 5 to open the contact a 1 in the circuit of electromagnet 81 and impulsing contacts nsi so that impulses are not sent. Additionally the high-speed drive is engaged by lever 46 engaging the coupling in pulley 39 and the discs are driven until cam 61 engages lever 46 to disengage the pulley 39 and restore the drive through worm 8 so that all the linkage is reset and the motor stops when follower 100 engages notch 98 in wheels 92, 93.
