Abstract

1,246,876. Electromagnetic reed relays. MATSUSHITA DENKO K.K. 26 Feb., 1969 [27 Feb., 1968; 12 April, 1968; 30 May, 1968], No. 10199/69. Heading H1N. A reed relay has a coil former comprising two synthetic resin moulded members A, B each having a main body part 1 and flanges 4, 4<SP>1</SP> at the ends thereof and having terminal members 6, 7, 9, 10, 21, 22 embedded therein with the fixed end of the reed armature contact 27 secured to a plate 5 from which the member 6 extends. The reed 27 is accommodated in a passage formed by recesses 2, (17) in the moulded members and its free end co-operates with opposed fixed contacts 8, 20 embedded in respective members A, B and having terminal members 9, 21 extending therefrom. The moulded members A, B for a plurality of relays may be formed around strips 34, 35, 36, 37 (Fig. 4A) which are subsequently cut to form the respective members 9, 10, 6, 7, as shown in Fig. 4B. Projections 13 on the member 18 set the gap between the fixed contacts 8, 20 and walls (12), (24) separate the contact area from recesses in which a permanent magnet 28 may be mounted with one pole adjacent a magnetic contact member 20, and the other pole spaced from the other magnetic contact member. The members are shaped to permit cutting away of unnecessary parts of the terminal members during manufacture. The reed may be adjusted after manufacture by altering the shape of the plate 5 which extends through an opening 5a in the former A, B.
