Abstract

1,246,509. Automatic exchange systems; prepayment substations. TAMURA ELECTRIC WORKS Ltd. 20 Nov., 1968 [25 Nov., 1967], No. 55016/68. Heading H4K. In a prepayment substation, a capacitor C2 is charged via resistors R1 and the line wires from central battery E whenever the handset is lifted. A.C. tone reverted over the line by closure of contacts 3 (as, for example, when a called party replies) is detected by a tuned circuit consisting of capacitor C1, transformer 6 and diode D1 so that when capacitor C3 is sufficiently charged a transistor 7 is slowly turned-on. Capacitor C2 thereafter discharges through the transistor and a coincollecting relay 8 which is thus brought-up in order to energize a coin-collecting mechanism (not shown). Instead of a coin-collect operation, the relay may operate a counter for counting the number of calls.
