Abstract

1,246,385. Pipe joints; heat-insulated pipes. MINISTERUL PETROLULUI. 31 Jan., 1969, No. 5466/69. Headings F2G and F2P. Thermally-insulated tubing for introducing hot fluids into oil-bearing strata comprises a plurality of tubing sections each having inner and outer walls la, 2a with thermal insulation 3a in the space between the walls, the outer walls 1a, 1b of adjacent sections being connected by coupling sleeves 9 and, to allow for thermal expansion, the inner wall 2a of each section is fixed to the outer wall la at one end and is free at the other end to slide within the fixed end of the inner wall 2b of the next section. As shown, the ends of the walls la, 1b are separated by a gap which is filled with thermal insulation 8; a washer 5 is welded to the wall la and a bushing 6 is screwed into that wall at the lower end of each section, the space between the washer and bushing being filled with thermal insulation 7. A washer 4 is welded to the upper ends of the walls 1b, 2b of each section.
