Abstract
1,246,187. Sliding clasp fastener. OPTIHOLDING A.G. 19 Nov., 1969 [27 Dec., 1968], No. 56611/69. Heading E2S. A stringer for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a stringer tape 1, woven from weft and warp threads, to which a row of interlocking elements 5 of a single plastics filament in the form of a distorted helix is woven by an additional locking thread 7 running in the weft direction which is preferably of shrinkable material and passes over only the connecting sections 6 of the filament such that the interlocking elements lie on the tape. The locking thread 7 is bound into the stringer tape 1 with the aid of binding warp threads 8. The process for weaving the row of interlocking elements to the tape involves a loom which operates on a bottom sheet 9 of warp threads 3 with associated bobbin 10 for weft threads 2, a middle sheet 11 of warp threads 3, and a top sheet 12 of binding warp threads 8 with associated top bobbin 13 for the locking weft thread 7. The row of interlocking elements is passed along the middle sheet 11 without any shedding motion imparted to it, and is woven to the tape by the locking weft thread 7 from the top bobbin 13 interlacing with the binding warp threads 8 of the top sheet 12 as the stringer tape 1 is woven in the normal way with the weft thread 2 from the bottom bobbin 10 inserted between the shedding motions of the bottom sheet 9 and the middle sheet 11.
