Abstract

1,245,398. Brassieres. MARY QUANT Ltd. and G. B. BRITTON & SONS Ltd. 2 Dec., 1968 [4 Dec., 1967], No. 55130/67. Heading A3V. A brassiere or other supporting garment has a moulded part formed of flexible resilient material such as heavily plasticised polyvinylchloride, and has an external shape corresponding to a desired female form. The brassiere has an outer surface 12 derived by conventional two part moulding or by rotational or slush casting from a mould of a living female figure, and an inner surface 13 so positioned that it allows for differences between the bust of the wearer and the ideal bust 12. Surface 13 is padded, for example with quilted material and foamed sponge material 21, and surface 12 has a large number of perforations, 20. Surface 12 may be left uncovered, or covered with a decorative textile. Shoulder straps may be provided. The brassiere may be attached by securing or adhesive or by direct moulding into a sweater, swimsuit, camisole, bra-slip, leotard or dress.
