The ends of a cord, or flexible metal or plastic strip 3 passed through perforations in a stack of sheets are threaded through holes 2 in the ends of a rail 1 and secured by a U-shaped cliplike device 4 of greater width than the rail, the ends of the cord being pressed into the space 5 between the rail 1 and the free edges of the clip. The bar 1 may comprise two relatively slidable parts 1a, 1b so that the distance between the holes 2 may be adjusted according to the distance separating the holes in the stack of sheets. The ends 6 of the free edges of the clip 4 may be chamfered to facilitate insertion of the cord.
