Abstract

1,245,183. Automatic speed control. GOERZ ELECTRO G.m.b.H. March 10, 1969 [March 11, 1968], No. 12580/69. Heading G3R. For regulating the speed of an electric motor a device 4 generates a square wave signal, of frequency proportional to the speed, which is applied to a D.C. amplifier 6 of the kind comprising a chopper, an A. C. amplifier, and a synchronous rectifier, the output of the amplifier being used to control the supply to the motor. Effectively the frequency and phase of the speed signal from contacts 4 is compared to those of the chopper supply 11 and a direct voltage is produced which is indicative of the error whenever the phase of the speed signal differs from a predetermined relationship with that of the chopper. The speed signals may be produced by a photo-cell or light dependent resistor in known manner.
