Abstract

1,244,556 Sample display device. F. HOWARD. May 6, 1969 [May 7, 1968 and Dec. 13, 1968], No. 23170/69. Heading A4T. A portable sample, e. g. of carpet, display device comprises a backing 11 with hinged end 12 and flap 14 of e. g. plastics or leather carrying a plate 25 with raised groove members 26, 27 holding small samples 33 and a hollow clamp member or members 20 e.g. of plastics releasably secured to the end 12 and holding a large sample 34 depending spaced from the small samples. Clamp 20 is formed by spring re-entrant claws 30, 31 with a flat end having slots coincident with slots 17 in the end 12 whereby the splayed ends of handle 16 pass through the slots to releasably secure the clamp 20 and end 12 together. If several clamps are used, they are secured, apart from the handle, by short pegs having splayed ends. In another embodiment a clamp is connected directly to the plate. In use, the large sample and clamp together with the end 12 and flap 14 are folded over to lie flat with the plate for the samples to be compared.
