Abstract

1,244,275. Anchoring cables. R. B. DE VALENZUELA. 12 May, 1969, No. 24110/69. Heading B8B. [Also in Division E2] A system for fixing a plurality of cables or rods 2 to be subsequently subjected to stressing comprises grooves 4 extending axially along a conical extension surface of a tubular inner crown 3 and into each of which a cable 2 is pressed by a conical interior surface of a tubular outer crown 1, the bottom of each groove 4 having a recess 5 extending therealong which weakens the crown 3 sufficiently to allow it to deform to completely receive the cables during radial compression due to the wedge effect of the crowns during cable stressing. A ring 6 insertable in the inner crown 3 limits the extent of deformation thereof. In the embodiment of Figs. 4-6 (not shown) a plurality of wires forming a braided cable are received in each groove and deformation of the inner crown is facilitated by axially extending V-section recesses formed on the radially inner surface of the inner crown.
