A fluid transferring device 10 comprises a cradle 11 having lower and upper supports 21, 27 to which an electrically operated vacuum pump 12 and a container 13, are secured respectively, a means 15 connecting the vacuum pump and the container for drawing a vacuum in the container and a means 17 for conducting fluid from a patient to the container, the cradle being provided with resilient vibration absorbing elements 30 between the cradle and a subjacent supporting surface. Preferably the pump is a reciprocating diaphragm pump.
