Abstract

1,243,982. Friction gearing. CIBA-GEIGY A.G. 15 Nov., 1968 [17 Nov., 1967], No. 54451/68. Heading F2Q. In an epicyclic friction wheel drive comprising a sun wheel 7, a ring wheel 9, and a pair of diametrically-opposed planet wheels 13 therebetween, each planet wheel comprises a thin walled body 13a of a hard resilient material, such as steel and which is naturally axiallysymmetrical but is compressed between the sun wheel 7 and ring wheel 9 and thereby deformed without significant local compression of the resilient material. A similar thin-walled body 13b is formed integrally with each planet wheel 13 and these are radially compressed between a sun wheel 11 and a ring wheel 12 mounted on an output shaft 4. Either sun wheel 11 or ring wheel 12 may be fast on the output shaft 4.
