Abstract

1,243,556. Tumble driers. F. A. SCHUURINK. 17 Nov., 1969 [21 Nov.. 1968], No. 56166/69. Heading F4G. A dryer having a drum 1 rotatable about an axis in a stationary casing, in which part of the drying air before entering the drum, is passed by a fan 5 along a heating device 17, wherein the heating device is arranged between two sheets 11 and 16 located inside the casing, said sheets being cooled by air passing over their outer surfaces. Sheet 16 is fixed to the casing and sheet 11 is fixed to the drum. The drying air is supplied to an enclosure 6 surrounding the fan 5 which blows the air through the centre of the drum wall 4, the front wall of the drum being provided with exit apertures 7 for the drying air which is then brought back into the fan enclosure through a narrow opening 12 at the rear of the enclosure where it is mixed with fresh air from the atmosphere. The cycling air follows the paths indicated by arrows in the diagram. Part of the circulating air escapes from the system through an opening to the atmosphere (not shown).
