Abstract

1,243,397. Cleaning floor coverings, &c. H. ALBISHAUSEN. 19 Aug., 1968 [19 Aug., 1967], No. 39620/68. Heading A4F. A brush for cleaning carpets and upholstery comprises rows of bristles mounted in a back plate 1 within a hood 3 having a connector 7 for a suction hose, and a cleaning liquid is supplied to a looped spray tube 14 provided between two rows of bristles 13, 13a, the used cleaning liquid being withdrawn through the suction hose via suction openings 21 provided in the back plate 1 between the bristles 13 and further bristles 2 disposed around the periphery of the brush. The applied suction is regulated by adjustment of a valve 17 to admit a controlled supply of air to the space 20 in front of the back plate 1, and of a perforated sleeve 26 threaded on to the connector 7 which is also apertured. Another embodiment has a single suction opening in the back plate and a different means for admitting a controlled supply of air into the hood 3 to regulate the applied suction.
