Abstract

Foot-arch supports.-A boot sock formed of a soft leather or leather-substitute base, which may be stiffened with cardboard, cork, &c., is covered on its upper surface with a woolly material which is of such size as to permit of a pad, convex both longitudinally and transversely, being formed between its layers to protrude in use upon its upper surface and form a foot-arch support. A similar construction, just the size of the pad itself, may be secured to the foot by an elastic band to form a heel support. The base a is formed of one or more layers of leather &c., and may be stiffened with a cardboard or like sheet b. The upper surface is covered with a layer of woollen material c slightly larger than the other layers to provide a pouch to form a pad d. The edges are bound with galloon &c. and the pouch stuffed with wool &c. and stitched at g.
