Abstract

1,242,386. Resiliently mounted seats. RALEIGH INDUSTRIES Ltd. 5 Sept., 1968 [4 Aug., 1967], No. 35800/67. Headings A4J and A4U. In a seat suspension, in which the seat is guided, for vertical oscillation, by means of a parallelogram linkage, the resilient effect of the spring 53 or rubber band 15g is varied by altering the effective length of the lever arm through which it acts. Thus, its point of attachment to link 58 is effectively shifted along the link. In Figs. 1 and 2, plates 15a are pivotally mounted on height adjustment slide 16 and connected to the seat by rollers 15b running in guides 15c. The lever arm length, through which rubber bands 15g act, is varied by the operation of a cam 15k and follower 15j arrangement. Parallelogram links 14a, 14b are carried on rollers 14d running in a fixed guide 14e. The links 14a, 14b are interconnected by the bars 14g and pivotally attached to guide 14e by link arms 14f.
