Abstract

1,241,879. Device for controlling laundry dryers. HOLZER PATENT A.G. 3 July, 1969 [11 July, 1968], No. 33578/69. Heading F4G. [Also in Division H3] A control device in a laundry dryer with mechanical movement of. the washing receives an input voltage from a potential divider formed by a variable resistor 1, whose setting determines the final dryness of the washing ,and the resistance which appears between electrodes 4, 5 whenever the washing bridges them. The input signal is stored on capacitor 9 and passed via an integrating network 11, 12 to the ignition electrode 18 of a gas discharge tube 14. As the washing dries the voltage at 18 rises until the tube fires and switches the dryer via relay 15, or operates a programme control unit. In operation even short intervals during which the washing bridges the electrodes are sufficient to charge capacitor 9 completely through the forward biased diode 8, although the discharge time of the capacitor through resistor 10 and reverse biased diode 8 is of the order of the drum revolution time. Because of the integrating network 11, 12, the voltage at 18 does not alter appreciably during several drum revolutions. Instead of the tube 14 a switching circuit using semiconductor devices can be used, as in Fig. 2 (not shown)- (see Division H3).
