Abstract
1,241,040. Cutting apparatus. NON-SAG SEATING CO. Ltd. 25 Sept., 1969 [8 Nov., 1968], No. 53071/68. Heading B4B. A table for use with a cutting machine having a tiltable band knife comprises a movable table portion 94 adapted to travel on a track 90 and a fixed table portion 100 having a slot 103 in which the knife can be located, the arrangement being such that with a workpiece, e.g. block of foam plastics, on the table portion 94, movement of the latter causes the workpiece to be cut by the knife. The track 90 comprises a rod (120, Fig. 6) adapted to engage with a pair of grooved rollers 126 and a flat plate (121) arranged to co-operate with cylindrical rollers 125, the track being supported on legs 91. The fixed table portion 100 is also mounted on legs 102, In order to locate the material on the movable table portion 94 fence members 161, 168 are secured thereto by means of brackets 162, 138 located at each end of the table. The brackets 138 are slidable on bars 136 secured to the ends of the table by means of brackets 131, 133, the brackets 138 being secured in the desired position by screws 140. The fence members are adjustably connected together by screws 166, both fence members being raised or lowered via a screw - and - nut device 163, 139. The brackets 138 are moved forwardly or rearwardly on the bars 136 by means of a chain- and-sprocket drive (153, Fig. 6) and 146, Fig. 7. The construction of the band knife machine is particularly described in Specification 1,204,113.
