Abstract
124,078. Mair, J. T. April 2, 1918. Catches, gravity. -A pivoted gravity catch is adapted to be lifted by a pivoted gravity lever interlocking therewith. T h e catch 2 which engages a striker 4 has a recess 13 and a projection 10 engaging corresponding parts 12, 11 on a lever 3 pivoted at 7 and having a handle 18. A trigger 17 on the lever engages the striker and ensures that the catch 2 shall be lowered when the gate &c. is closed. On lifting the lever to raise the catch the trigger 17 presses against the striker with the effect of giving the gate an initial impulse so as to carry the catch clear of the striker. A spring - controlled push-button may be provided to be operated against the trigger 17 in order to raise the lever. The lever 3 may be secured by a lock bolt in the slot 26 behind the shoulder 25.
