Abstract

A photo-flash socket 30 for receiving a flashcube 10 containing percussion-ignitable lamps 12 and having depending primer tubes 11 supported by webs 43, 44 comprises a plurality of resilient retaining fingers 33 engageable with the webs 43 of an inserted flash-cube 10 and a slot 36 located between each pair of fingers to receive and support the webs 44. The support is necessary during striking impact of the primer tubes 11. The socket 30 is an integral structure, fabricated by injection moulding, and also comprises a central stabilizing stud 32 which fits in the cavity defined by the webs 43, and four U-shaped bearing members 34 which extend around three sides of each finger 33 the slots 36 being located between adjacent members 34. In another embodiment Figs. 6-8 (not shown) members (38') extend radially outwards from the bottom portion (31') of the socket and are provided with upwardly extending lips (39) which provide additional bearing surfaces for the ends of the webs (44). A third embodiment of the socket, Fig. 9a, for the flash-cube 10' of Fig. 9 in which webs 54 extend from centre post 53 into attachment with tubes 11 along their entire height, the webs being thinner than the tubes 11, comprises resilient fingers 63 and slots 66 as before, but the slots have a width less than the diameter of the tubes 11.
