Abstract

1,240,614. Wrapping tape around bolts. CRANE PACKING CO. 8 Sept., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 44353/69. Heading B8G. In a device which is rotated about a bolt 10 for wrapping a tape 11 of unsintered PTFE around the screw-threads thereof, the position of a cartridge 24 of tape may be adjusted to locate the tape at a desired position on the screw-thread by means of screw-threaded pins 29, 30 fixed to a plate 27 on which the cartridge is clamped and passing through an arm 18 by which the cartridge is rotated around the bolt, there being captive nuts 38 engaged on the pins and located relative to the arm 18, and connected by a chain 43 engaging sprockets 40 on the nuts 38, so that rotation of one nut by a knurled wheel 42 is transmitted to the other nuts, and the pins 29, 30 are simultaneously moved axially relative to the arm 18.
