1,139,985. 2-Imidazolidone derivatives. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 13 July, 1967 [16 July, 1966], No. 32226/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of formula and acid addition salts thereof wherein R 1 and R 2 are H, alkyl, alkoxy or acyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, CF 3 , halogen or cyano, Y is C 2-6 alkylene and R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are H or alkyl or are linked optionally via an oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen atom in a ring wherein the nitrogen atom if present is substituted by alkyl or hydroxyalkyl are prepared by one of the following methods: (a) a compound of formula is reacted with an amine of formula X-YN.R 3 .R 4 where X is a reactive ester group; (b) a compound of formula wherein V is a reactive ester group is reacted with an amine H.N.R 3 R 4 ; (c) a urea of formula is cyclized; (d) a compound of formula is reacted with a derivative of carbonic acid; (e) an imidazolidone of formula is nitrated. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms and having catalytic, anti-emetic and tranquillizing activity comprise an above novel compound and a diluent or carrier therefor.
