Abstract

1,139,659. Moulding bottle caps. BROWN MACHINE CO. OF MICHIGAN Inc. 23 Aug., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 38861/67. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] A plastics cap for a plastics milk bottle &c. 13 has an ear 10 extending from one edge, the cap being differentially pressure formed from a sheet (P), Fig. 3 (not shown), of plastics in such a way that the straight sides (10a, 10b), Fig. 4 (not shown), of the ear are parallel to the direction (X) in which the sheet is stretched. When the ear 10 is pulled to remove the cap, it is then found that tear lines (17, 18) form as substantially straight extensions of the sides (10a, 10b) of the ear, along the "grain" of the plastics (P). The centre 14 of the cap is recessed and undercut at 15a to hold a printed cardboard label-disc 16.
