Abstract

1,139,037. Brushes. DENDIX BRUSHES Ltd. 29 Sept., 1967 [29 Sept., 1966], No. 43675/66. Heading A4K. [Also in Division B3] In order to provide an unimpeded flow of liquid to the bristle tips of a cylindrical rotary brush, the liquid outlet apertures 16, in the cylinder 1, are arranged to lie in gaps between adjoining lengths of brush strip. The brush strip may be in the form of sinuous rings 6, or wound as a helix or it may consist of straight lengths, parallel to the axis of rotation. The rings 6 are clamped against spacers 11, by lock nuts 15, and have projections entering grooves 8, between the bases (10) of the spacers. When removing scale from and polishing metal strip, a slurry of abrasive particles enters the cylinder 1 through shafts 3 and is projected centrifugally, through apertures 16. In another form, the liquid is supplied through a stationary slotted coaxial tube (18) and a brush (20) contacts the inner wall of the cylinder 1. The bristles 7 may be of steel, Tampico or polyethylene terephthalate.
