Abstract

1,138,099. Splitting-machines. MACHINENFABRIK MOENUS A.G. 12 Dec., 1967 [7 Oct., 1967], No. 56425/67. Heading B4B. A machine for splitting hides and untanned leather comprises an adjustable band knife 16 to which the material is fed by means of a sectional roller 6 which is driven by a rubberfaced roller 7 in such a way that the feed is varied over the transverse width of the material. The roller 6 comprises a plurality of annular discs which are resiliently mounted. The roller 7 comprises three sections 24, 25 and 26, the sections 24, 25 being driven at the same peripheral speed by sprockets 30, 31 and the section 26 being driven at a lower peripheral speed than the sections 24, 25 by a sprocket 28. The rubber facing of the section 26 is preferably of softer material than that of the sections 24, 25. The height of the roller 7 is adjustable by means of a hand-driven eccentric (8), Fig. 1 (not shown). The height of the shaping roller 19 is adjustable by means of hand wheels (13), Fig. 1 (not shown).
