Abstract

1,136,771. Seed sowing machines. MAXWELL DAVIDSON Ltd. 31 May, 1966 [5 March, 1965; 15 May, 1965], Nos. 9429/65 and 20629/65. Heading A1D. Seed is sown by accelerating it to at least the speed of sound in air to impact against the ground with sufficient force to penetrate to the desired depth below ground level. Seeds are fed into a chamber where they block a nozzle and air pressure is built up in the chamber so that the seed is ejected through the nozzle. As shown seeds are fed at spaced intervals along a pipe 30 through a non-return valve 31 into a chamber 32 and each seed blocks the orifice 35 causing pressure to rise in the chamber 32 which operates a piston 37 to operate a valve 39 of a high pressure supply line 40 the air from the supply forcing the seed through the nozzle 34.
