Abstract

1,135,230. Stranding apparatus. FRISCHKABEL-UND VERSEILMASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 8 Sept., 1966 [8 Oct., 1965], No. 40145/66. Heading D1T. A cable stranding apparatus comprises two wheel sets 4, 5 that are spaced apart, and are mounted in separate forks 4', 5 that are rotated in synchronism. The elements to be stranded are drawn through a stationary nipple and then pass back and forth over the wheel sets 4, 5 whilst the forks 4', 5 are rotating, the space between the wheel sets acting as a store. When the store is full the resulting cable is run out again whilst fresh elements are drawn in, the forks rotating in the opposite direction during this next stage, and so on. The forks may be driven by individual synchronous motors, or by gearing coupled to a common motor. One of the forks may be movable towards and away from the other fork.
