In a centrifugal compressor a surge-eliminating device comprises a chamber 7 communicating with the compressor flow passage 10 through holes 9 to damp rapid pressure changes occurring in the flow passage. The chamber may be divided by baffles and be open or closed to the surrounding atmosphere.
