Abstract

1,132,309. Hydraulic actuators: gear pumps. KALLE - REGULATORER A.B. July 20, 1967 [Sept. 9, 1966], No.33514/67. Headings F1F and F1P. An hydraulic actuator circuit includes two continuously driven gear pumps 2, 2' each having a gas, e.g. atmospheric air, inlet 4, 4' and a liquid inlet 3, 3', valve members 33, 33' actuated simultaneously in opposite directions in response to electric pulses so as to close said air inlets 4, 4' alternately, a restricted outlet 5, 5' at the delivery side of each pump, a hydraulic actuator cylinder 26 connected at one end by a first conduit 16 and a check valve 14 to the delivery path 7 of pump 2, and connected at the other end by a second conduit 16' and second check valve 14' to the delivery path 7' of pump 2' a pressure responsive member 17 arranged to open check valve 14 in response to pressure in a branch 20' of the delivery pipe 7' of pump 2' and a member 17' arranged to open check valve 14' in response to pressure in a branch 20 of the delivery pipe 7. In operation and with the inlets of both air ducts 4, 4' open, both pumps 2, 2' deliver air through the restricted outlets 5 and valves 14, 14' remain seated. On increasing a current through one or other solenoids 34, 35 a valve arm 32 is pivoted to close say air conduit 4 whereupon pump 2 draws liquid and delivers it into pipe 7 and also path 5 until the lower end of the latter is blocked by adiaphragm 25 connected to a path 22 to branch 20. Pump delivery pressure then opens valve 14 and displaces actuator piston 27 to the left and liquid exhausted thereby passes through open valve 14' and is vented through an aperature 21'. In the event of piston 27 reaching the end of the cylinder 26 whilst one or other of the air ducts 4, 4' are closed and one or other of pumps 2, 2' are delivering liquid, an air valve 39, 39' is opened therebly admitting atmospheric air into either duct 4, or 4'. A further air valve 43, 43' is opened by a Bourden tube 42 when deflected by an undue pressure rise in conduit 16, 16'. Piston 27 may be adjusted when pumps 2, 2' are idle by application of liquid pressure through either of ducts 29, 29' by moves of a hand pump.
