Abstract

1,131,965. Telegraphy. SIEMENS A.G. 19 Jan., 1967 [20 Jan., 1966], No. 2792/67. Heading H4P. In a telegraph exchange comprising a line KV having a plurality of channels, a unique combination of which is marked by each bit from any calling subscriber T1-Tn, there is a matrix unit SP having its rows Z1-Zn connected to the subscribers and its columns S1-S5 to the channels. The channels may be lines as shown or separate frequency channels. When subscriber T1 wishes to transmit, a calling signal passes via TS1 to unit ES which marks a combination of channels unique to the calling subscriber. This combination sets up a row of magnetic cores Zr associated with a free register R. Register R stores the combination. Dialling pulses from T1 then pass via TS1, ES, line KV, and Zr to the register, where the number of the called subscriber is now stored. The register selects by way of TSn the row Zn of the core matrix Sp corresponding to the called subscriber and sets the selected row to respond to the calling subscriber combination. The register is now released. Subsequently data from T1 passes via TS1, to ES, line KV and the selected row Zn to subscriber Tn. By selection of a plurality of rows a plurality of subscribers will receive the signals from T1.
