Abstract
1,131,043. Reactive dye compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 Jan., 1966 [2 Feb., 1965], No. 4527/65. Heading D1B. Reactive dyestuffs which are free from sulphonic acid or carboxylic acid groups and which contain at least one reactive halogen atom or other atom or group capable of reacting with a textile material are dispersed in water by a process wherein a press cake of the dyestuff is dried to a water content of less than 40% by weight then subjected to a size-reduction process in the presence of water in amount sufficient to give a dispersed paste containing from 15% to 45% by weight of dyestuff and a dispersing agent in amount from 5% to 60% by weight of dried presspaste until substantially all of the particles of the dyestuff are reduced to a diameter of 10 microns or less. The dyestuffs may contain chlorinated or brominated 1 :3:5-triazinyl radicals, chlorinated or brominated pyrimidyl radicals, γ - halogeno - # - hydroxypropylamino or # - halogenoalkyl - sulphamyl radicals; others are mentioned. The dispersing agent may be a sulphonated naphthalene/formaldehyde condensation product, sulphonated cellulose lye, rosin soaps, higher alcohol ethylene oxide condensation products or cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide.
