Abstract

1,130,679. Nut-runners. ATLAS COPCO A.B. 6 Oct., 1967 [11 Oct., 1966], No. 45782/67. Heading B3N. A rotary pneumatic nut-runner or screwdriver 10, comprises a rotary vane air motor 11, which drives an output shaft 17 through planetary gears 14 and bevel gears 16, a throttle valve 20 opened by a trigger 22, and an adjustable, spring- urged, shut off valve 24. In operation, the trigger is actuated to open valve 20, air passes from passage 18<SP>1</SP> to open valve 24 against its spring 28, and then through passage 18<SP>11</SP>, valve 20 and passage 18<SP>111</SP>, so as to drive motor 11. When the resistance reaches a predetermined value the air pressure in creases in a passage 32 and this air is supplied to the side 27 of valve 24, the latter snaps into the closed position and the motor stops.
