Abstract
1,130,534. Stamping. CHEMOKOMPLEX VEGYIPARI-GEPES BERENDEZES EXPORT, IMPORT VALLALAT. 19 Jan., 1966 [19 Jan., 1965], No. 2533/66. Heading B3Q. A method of cupping comprises placing a flat workpiece 3 over a convergent die-passage 2 without using a work-holder, and pressing the workpiece through the passage by a sudden discharge of energy in a gaseous or liquid medium, e.g. air or water. The energy may be released by spark discharge, or by an explosive charge 7 carried by an adjustable stand supported on the die. A reflector 8 is also carried by the stand, opposite the conical &c. diepassage, which opens into a releasable receptacle 4 into which the finished work may fall. The die may be suspended from a hook 9 and lowered into water, and the die-space may be evacuated or sufficiently large for back-pressure not to interfere with the cupping. Grease may form a seal between the workplate and die. The work may be sized by a further explosive-forming operation.
