Abstract

1,130,209. Pulse radar. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 13 Sept., 1966, No. 40878/66. Heading H4D. In a pulse Doppler radar utilizing a coherent oscillator 6 phase - locked to the carrier frequency of the output of pulse transmitter 1 at each repetition period, the outputs of mixers 7, 8 are fed to a phase detector 11, the output of mixer 8 being subjected in unit 10 to a phase shift varying linearly with time (i.e. a corresponding frequency shift F o ), and the phase detector output is fed via a range gate 12 to a filter 13 having two pass bands one of which is the frequency range F o - F m to F o - FM and the other of which is the frequency range F o + F m to F o + F M where F m and FM are the Doppler frequency shifts corresponding to the slowest and fastest targets of interest respectively. The output of filter 13 passes to a loudspeaker 15 and, via a frequency discriminator 17 centred on frequency P o , to a centre-zero meter 18. Phase shifter 10 may use multiple mixing, Fig. 3 (not shown).
