Abstract

1,129,861. Cold-setting polyester resins. ARTRITE RESINS Ltd. 4 Jan., 1967 [4 Jan., 1966], No. 375/66. Headings C3P and C3R. Cold-setting copolymers are prepared by copolymerizing with a monomeric ethylenically unsaturated compound an unsaturated polyester or a mixture of such polyester with a saturated polyester in the presence of a catalyst for the copolymerization reaction, at least one of said polyesters having been modified by co-condensation with N,N-dihydroxyethyl p-toluidine. Preferred comonomers are styrene and methyl methacrylate. In the example are used a polyester prepared from maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and propylene glycol; styrene; hydroquinone and benzoyl peroxide.
