Abstract

A burner with radial flame propagation comprises an outer tube 1, and inner tubes 3, 9, 10, a block 13 of material such as foamed fireclay provided with a shaped piece 16 of highly refractory material with an air space 17 between the two parts 13, 16 and a casing 15, the tube 3 being flared out to form a head 6 provided with three sets of tangential openings 7 in different planes perpendicular to the burner axis. Fuel is fed to tube 3 which also has a screw 11 surrounding part of tube 10 and air is fed via a socket 2 to the tube 1 to pass through holes 7 so that the mixture of air and fuel rotates and is ignited in the combustion channel 14.
