Fuel elements 63 spaced laterally from one another by a lattice-like framework comprising a rectangular frame 64 having two sets of crosswebs 66, 68, are engaged on their heat-exchange surfaces by rigid pressed-out protuberances 61, 67 formed on the set 68 of the cross-webs and on the frame 64 and by resilient tongues 62 carried by the set 66 of the cross-webs.
